If your grant is unable to support the increased animal care costs, please submit a request for Bridge Grant Support. Guidelines and procedures for submitting Bridge Requests can be found here. Please note that all funding proposals submitted on or after May 13, 2024, must use the new rates for animal budget estimations.
Per diems include:
- Routine and standard husbandry care, including caging, bedding, feed, enrichment, and other consumable supplies
- Routine veterinary care, including consultation, initial diagnostics, and treatment
- Emergency veterinary care for illnesses and injuries not related to research activities
- Colony health monitoring program
- Purchase and maintenance of standard equipment and supplies required for operation of LAR facilities
- Facility maintenance and housekeeping supplies
- Standard personal protective equipment
- Vehicle maintenance
- Waste disposal
- Accreditation fees and professional memberships
- Telecommunications
- LAR personnel pre-employment screening
- LAR personnel salaries
